Join our session with the University of Idaho
We’re excited to share that this year we will have a joint talk with Rowdy Sanford, PhD, who’s an Assistant Professor at the University of Idaho.
‘Redesign, Not Replace: Sustainably Refreshing a Technology Lab without Starting Over’ talk will take place on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, 10:45 AM–11:30 AM MT, in meeting room 207, Street Level.
This session explores how the University of Idaho redesigned its computer engineering lab around Ubuntu, extending the life of existing hardware while maintaining security, support, and compatibility with instructional needs. Rowdy Sanford and Canonical will share how the university balanced academic, operational, and financial needs without raising student fees – with live demonstrations of centralized administration, security maintenance, and Active Directory integration.
